The Uganda Green Project is Veterans Global Assets' integrated environmental and community investment initiative built directly into VGA's mining operations, not bolted on as an afterthought. It is anchored in Uganda's National Development Plan III (NDP III) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and it is funded entirely from VGA's operating profits.
This is not corporate social responsibility on paper. It is infrastructure that will outlast any single production cycle delivering clean water, renewable energy, and meaningful employment to Ugandan families living and working near VGA's operational sites.
PHASE 1 — WATER TREATMENT PLANT
Goal: Provide clean, safe, and sustainable water for mining operations and surrounding communities because no worker, child, or family should suffer from preventable illness.
Uganda faces a significant and measurable water crisis:
• 81% of Uganda's population lacks access to safely managed drinking water
• Only 69% of rural Ugandans use an improved water source
• Waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid cost Uganda an estimated $147 million annually in lost productivity and health expenditure
VGA's Phase 1 investment directly addresses this gap, not as charity, but as a core part of responsible operational development.
KEY FACILITIES — PHASE 1
· Advanced filtration and purification systems for industrial and domestic use
· Treatment tanks with real-time monitoring for compliance and quality assurance
· Water recycling systems that minimize environmental runoff from mining operations
· Distribution network connecting mining sites directly to surrounding villages
IMPACT STATS — PHASE 1 Expected Outcome and Target
·Clean water access - 15,000+ residents and mining zone workers
·Waterborne illness - reduction 40–60% within 18 months of operation
·Direct jobs created - 50 - 75 construction and operations roles
·Environmental benefit - Sustainable water recycling minimizing runoff
·Partnership model - Public-private framework supporting Uganda's National Water Policy
PHASE 2 — SOLAR FARM & EQUIPMENT DEPLOYMENT
Goal: Deliver renewable energy and modern mining infrastructure to power economic growth while dramatically reducing Uganda's dependence on diesel generators and carbon emissions.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Uganda's energy gap is significant and solvable:
• Uganda's electricity access rate is only 42%, with rural electrification below 25%
• Diesel generators supply over 60% of mining energy demand, expensive, polluting, and unreliable
• Uganda receives an average solar radiation of 5.2 kWh/m²/day among the highest in East Africa
• Per-capita electricity consumption is just 122 kWh/year vs. a global average of 3,200 kWh/year
VGA's Phase 2 investment replaces diesel dependency with clean, locally generated solar power cutting costs, reducing emissions, and expanding energy access to schools, clinics, and homes beyond the mining zone.
KEY FACILITIES — PHASE 2
· Solar panel arrays generating up to 10–15 MW of clean, renewable energy
· Advanced energy storage systems ensuring continuous, 24-hour power supply
· Modern excavators and mining machinery boosting productivity while reducing environmental footprint
· Off-grid electricity connections for local communities, schools, and health clinics
IMPACT STATS — PHASE 2 Expected Outcome and Target
· Renewable energy capacity - 10–15 MW of solar generation online
· Fossil fuel reduction - Up to 40% reduction in diesel use within 12 months
· Extraction efficiency - 25–30% improvement in production efficiency
· Direct jobs created - 200+ construction, installation, and maintenance roles
· Community energy access - Schools, clinics, and homes powered off-grid
WHY THE UGANDA GREEN PROJECT MATTERS
The Uganda Green Project will serve as a national benchmark for responsible mineral development. It demonstrates that private-sector mining investment can — and must — go hand-in-hand with community uplift, environmental stewardship, and long-term economic empowerment. VGA does not extract from communities. We invest in them.
FOUR PILLARS — What It Means for Uganda
·Protects the Environment - Responsible, low-impact operations with renewable energy and water recycling
·Strengthens Community Trust - Transparent partnerships with local government and residents at every stage
·Lowers Carbon Footprint - Diesel operations replaced by solar power and modern, efficient machinery
·Meets ESG Standards - Full compliance with Environmental, Social, and Governance frameworks
CONCLUSION
The Uganda Green Project is more than a mining initiative , it is a legacy investment in health, sustainability, and the dignity of Ugandan communities.
Through Phase 1 (Water Treatment) and Phase 2 (Solar Energy + Equipment), Veterans Global Assets will improve lives, advance Uganda's renewable energy agenda, reduce emissions, empower 250+ local workers, and strengthen public-private partnerships that serve both people and the planet.
